# Tags

> Saved answers your staff can post with one command

A tag is a saved message. Create it once on the dashboard, and your staff can post it in any channel with `/tags send`. Tags are useful for rules, FAQs, appeal instructions and anything else you find yourself typing again and again.

## Create a tag

Tags are created and edited on the dashboard, not in Discord.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Tags">
    On the [dashboard](https://quark.bot/dashboard), open your server and choose **Tags** in the sidebar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Press New Tag">
    Fill in the fields:

    | Field | Rules |
    | - | - |
    | Name | Up to 31 characters. Saved in lower case. Cannot be changed later |
    | Content | Up to 4,095 characters. Markdown, links and emojis work |
    | Image URL | Optional. A direct link to an image, up to 255 characters. Use an image hosted on Imgur or Discord |
    | Embed Color | Optional |
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    The tag is available in Discord straight away.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Use a tag

```
/tags send tag:rules
/tags send tag:rules user:@someone
```

* `tag` autocompletes as you type.
* `user` mentions a member along with the tag, so they are notified.
* The tag is posted as an embed for everyone in the channel. You get a private confirmation.

`/tags list` shows every tag in the server.

## Who can use tags

By default, members need both **Kick Members** and **Manage Messages** to see `/tags`. You can change who sees it in **Server Settings → Integrations → Quark**, but `/tags send` always needs both permissions, or Administrator.

On the dashboard, anyone who manages the server in Discord can create and edit tags, as can anyone given **Manage tags** under [dashboard access](/dashboard/access).

## Limits

| | Free and Pro Lite | Quark Pro |
| - | - | - |
| Tags per server | 25 | Unlimited |

Creating, editing and deleting a tag each produce a log in the **Quark Events** category.
