# Managing your plan

> Change plan, move servers, cancel, and what happens when a plan ends

## Where things are

| To do this | Go to |
| - | - |
| Choose or change which servers your plan covers | [Inventory](https://quark.bot/inventory) |
| Change plan or billing period | [Pricing](https://quark.bot/pricing) |
| Update your card, see invoices, cancel | [Billing](https://quark.bot/subscriptions/billing) |

Billing opens your Stripe customer portal. Lifetime, packs and redeemed gifts are paid once, so there is nothing to cancel. If you paid by card, billing still shows your invoices.

## Change plan

On the [pricing page](https://quark.bot/pricing), a subscriber sees **Upgrade to Pro**, **Downgrade** or **Change Period** on each plan. The change takes effect immediately, and what you have already paid for the current period is taken into account. The page tells you what you will be charged before you confirm.

You can also buy **Lifetime** while you have a subscription. Your subscription is then set to end at the close of its paid period and is not charged again.

Packs cannot run alongside a subscription. Cancel the subscription first and buy a pack once it ends. The cancellation page also offers a pack that starts when your paid period ends.

## Cancel

Open [billing](https://quark.bot/subscriptions/billing) and cancel in the portal.

You keep everything you have paid for until the end of the current period.

## Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Quark sends you a DM with a link to retry or pay another way. If you pay yearly, the DM also offers to switch you to monthly instead. If the payment stays unpaid, the subscription is cancelled.

## Refunds

See the [refund policy](https://quark.bot/legal/refunds).

## When a plan ends

* Paid features switch off on the servers the plan covered.
* **Your settings are kept.** Custom colours, formats and per-log channels stay saved but stop being applied. They apply again if the server gets a plan later.
* Quark goes back to keeping message content for 12 hours, and the log viewer goes back to the last hour.
* Tags above the free limit of 25 are not deleted, but you cannot add more.
* The Quark Pro bot leaves the server.
* When a plan is removed from a server, Quark posts a **Server Downgraded** log in its Quark Events channel.

## Messages from Quark

Quark sends you a DM when a trial or plan starts, when it renews, when you change or cancel it, when a payment fails, and when a subscription ends. Before a trial or an introductory price ends, it tells you the date and the amount of the first full charge.

If your DMs are closed, these are not delivered. The same information is in your [inventory](https://quark.bot/inventory) and billing portal.

## Gifts

You can give someone Quark Pro: a three-month pack, a six-month pack, or Lifetime.

### Give a gift

1. On the [pricing page](https://quark.bot/pricing), press **Gift Pro**.
2. Choose what to give.
3. Optionally enter the recipient's Discord user ID. Only they, or you, can then redeem it, and Quark sends them the link. Leave it empty and anyone with the link can redeem it.
4. Pay. You get a gift link, which is also listed under **Gifts** in your [inventory](https://quark.bot/inventory).

Gift links do not expire.

### Redeem a gift

Open the link, sign in with Discord and press **Redeem**. Then apply the plan to your servers as described in [getting started](/subscriptions/overview#getting-started).

* If you already have a pack, the gifted months are added to the end.
* If you have a running subscription, a gifted pack cannot be redeemed until it ends. The link will still work then. A gifted Lifetime can be redeemed straight away. Your subscription then ends at the close of its paid period and is not charged again.
* If you already have Lifetime, you cannot redeem it. Pass the link on to someone else.
