Create a Weblate account

Register here and verify your email address.
Your email address is public by default. The next step hides it.

Hide your email address

In your profile settings, change your email to the no-reply address Weblate provides. It looks like [email protected].

Start translating

Open the Quark project, choose your language and translate.
If your language is not listed, see adding a new language.

Rules for translations

  • Be accurate. Translate the meaning, not word for word.
  • Make sense. Read it back as a native speaker would.
  • Keep the format. Line breaks, punctuation and Markdown such as **bold** should stay as they are.
  • Do not translate anything inside curly brackets. Text such as {user} or {channel} is replaced by Quark when the message is sent. Move it to wherever it belongs in your sentence, but leave the text inside the brackets exactly as it is.

When your translation appears

New translations reach Quark with its next update, so they do not show up immediately. A new language becomes selectable in /language once the developers have switched it on.
