Quark logs nothing until you tell it which channel to post in. Setup is three steps: add the bot, choose a channel, check a log arrives.

Before you start

You need the Manage Server permission in the server to add a bot. To run /logging you need Manage Channels and Manage Server. To open the dashboard you need any one of Administrator, Manage Server, Manage Channels or Manage Webhooks.

Add Quark to your server

Open the invite link, pick your server and approve the permissions.Discord shows the list of permissions Quark asks for, with Administrator ticked. Administrator is the simplest choice, because nothing can then be blocked by a channel permission. If you would rather not grant it, untick it and read permissions for what Quark needs instead.

Choose where logs go

After you approve, Quark opens a setup page for your server. Pick one:
  • Create #quark-logs and log everything there. Quark makes one private channel that only your admins can see and sends every log to it. This needs Administrator or Manage Channels. If you unticked Administrator, use a channel you already have.
  • Use a channel you already have. Choose a text channel from the list and press Use this.
If you added Quark some other way (from Top.gg or Discord’s app directory, for example), you will not see that page. Do one of these instead:
  • In Discord, run /logging and pick a channel from Set logging channel.
  • On the dashboard, open your server, go to Logging → Channels and set the main serverlog channel.
Either way, this sets your main log channel. Every log goes there until you split them up.

Check that a log arrives

Quark posts a confirmation message in the channel you chose. Now send a message anywhere in the server and delete it. A Message Deleted log should appear in the log channel within a second or two.If nothing appears, run /troubleshoot. It checks your setup and tells you what is stopping logs. See troubleshooting.
Deleting your own message is a fine test, unless you have added yourself or one of your roles to the ignore rules. The troubleshooter tells you if you have.

What to do next

On the dashboard, go to Logging → Channels. Each category (Modlogs, Members, Messages, Voice, Actions, Server, Roles, Channels, Quark Events) has a switch and a channel dropdown. Choose a channel to send that category somewhere else, or turn the switch off to stop logging it. Under them, the two special categories, Files and Age-restricted, can each have their own channel but cannot be switched off.You can do the same in Discord with /logging: pick a category from Select a category. A few names differ there (Quark Events is Quark Config, Actions is Server Actions), and Files and Age-restricted can only be set on the dashboard.See where logs go.
On the dashboard, go to Logging → Ignore Rules and add the channels, categories, members or roles you want left out.An executor is the person who did something. A target is the person or thing it was done to. Ignoring a member as an executor hides what they do. Ignoring them as a target hides what is done to them.See options.
Open Log Viewer in the dashboard sidebar. It shows your logs as they happen, with filters for member, channel, log type and text.See log viewer.
Moderators without Manage Server can still be given the log viewer, or part of the dashboard. Go to Settings → Dashboard Access.See sharing access.
